What is Online Therapy?

Commitments and constraints keep you from seeking therapy.

Therapy offers many benefits, and you want to change your life. But your busy schedule, demands, and obligations make it hard to fit in one more thing, like making therapy a priority.

Attending weekly therapy can be another time commitment from your job, family, school, traffic, endless to-do lists, etc.

Therapy should be a time to help you with your stress, not add to it.

And what if you finally found your best therapist fit and learned they aren’t even local to you and are an hour or two away?

Online therapy offers a viable alternative.

To meet my client’s needs, I operate a virtual private practice serving the residents in the whole state of California, streamlining the entire therapy process solely online.

With Online Therapy, also called Telehealth or Teletherapy, I conduct sessions virtually using a confidential and secure video conferencing platform that is HIPAA compliant.

You no longer need to commute or travel for sessions, take time off work, leave early to fit your scheduling, or block off a chunk of time to account for the round trip to attend therapy.

For many, online therapy has been very beneficial in helping them stay consistent, committed, and reaching their wellness goals because of the practicality, accessibility, and convenience of meeting online.

You lose no quality with online therapy.

Research shows that online therapy is as effective as in-person therapy.

The process of therapy is the same.

The same skills, tools, interventions, and emotional support provided help clients achieve their wellness goals of overcoming anxiety or depression, improving relationships, and enjoying motherhood.

Clients prefer online therapy for many reasons:

Online therapy is convenient.

Therapy is much easier to add to your day. You can schedule appointments on your terms – whether that’s in between work meetings, classes, sleeping babies, or before or after your day.

You save time by not driving in heavy traffic, walking to and from office buildings, taking time off work, or leaving early to make your appointment. Plus, you don’t need to deal with harsh weather conditions or driving in the rain.

You save money on gas, public transportation, parking, childcare, or those coffees you would always buy while passing the time waiting for your appointment.

Online therapy is accessible.

All you need is a computer, phone, or tablet with a strong internet connection, and you’re ready to meet. We can meet anywhere, anytime, on your terms.

Busy professionals, students, and parents who have a lot of responsibilities and deadlines can maximize the time they have in their day by receiving therapy online.

And suppose I’m the best match for you. In that case, you can meet with me for therapy anywhere in California, instead of only with local therapists in your community or commuting far for a session.

It’s also straightforward to join the online session. All you do is click on a link, and you’re in the virtual waiting room – so effortless!

Online therapy is consistent, comfortable, and confidential.

Meeting online allows for fewer obstacles and more regularity of attendance, which can help you stay consistent in reaching your wellness goals.

Being in the privacy of your own home or chosen environment allows you greater access to your items to soothe yourself during emotional sessions, and you can control your accommodations.

Working online is more discreet, so you no longer have to worry about running into people you know in the waiting room or office building. Unlike an office building in shared spaces, you’re in control of how close or far you are from others.

Online therapy is safe, secure, and compliant with patient privacy law, so you don’t have to worry about your secrecy; best practices are in place.

Here are some tips for preparing for your online session:

Before the session, please allow at least 10 minutes to get your mind prepared and ready for the session.

During the session, use a computer, tablet, or phone connected to a reliable internet connection. Choose a place that is quiet, well-lit, comfortable, and meets your privacy standards. Then, sit in a relaxed position, and place your device on a sturdy surface.

Turn off all technology to eliminate distractions and disruptions. Place your phone on silent or airplane mode and close windows on your computer browser to turn off message notifications. Eliminating distractions helps you stay present and focused during the session.

After the session, have a plan set up to cope with any uncomfortable feelings that came up directly. This plan can include journaling, taking a walk, artistic expression, fitness, stretching, chatting with a friend, etc.

Break Through the Barriers.

Online Therapy offers more convenience, accessibility, and practicality for busy professionals, students, parents, and those who cannot commute or prefer things to be simple and easy.

Don’t let anything get in the way of transforming your mood, relationships, and motherhood experience.
